Always Grateful For The Artisan Design Team Blog Hop

Welcome to the Artisan Design Team Blog Hop for October! The Artisan Design Team is a group of 20 demonstrators worldwide, chosen by Stampin’ Up! to share their creativity. For this hop, we are focusing on a theme of ‘grateful’.

This post’s title kind of says it all really. I will always be grateful for my time on the Artisan Design Team. It has been a total dream to work with some of the best designer demonstrators out there, and to have made new friends all over the world!

When asked what makes Stampin’ Up! for me – I always reply ‘the people’. I love the product, but for me, the people are what make this little business of mine all worthwhile. The customers, all of whom are now my friends. The staff from local and global home offices. The other demonstrators, both in the UK (can’t wait to meet up with lots in a few weeks) and all over the world as we get to know each other virtually. The people who follow the blog and leave kind comments (wink, wink!). I’m grateful for ALL OF YOU!

For this blog hop, I kept things kind of simple – and focused on another thing I’m grateful for – cake! I am always grateful for cake! I wish I could send you all a cake!

For this project, I created a ‘tray’ for my cake using the Stampin’ Up! Paisley & Posies Designer Series Paper. I simply used my baking tin as a kind of template to draw on the back of the card, then cut out and stick together.

I always bake my cakes in liners so they don’t stick to the tin, but they also help with minimising the grease staining onto the card tray too.

I then popped my cake into one of the new Gusseted Cellophane Bags then tied it all up with ribbon from the Ribbon Trio Pack in the Stampin’ Up! Autumn/Winter catalogue.

Finally, I created a tag using a 3×4 card from the All Year Long Project Life Card Collection. I added the sentiment, cut from another PL card, and finished it off with a couple of the cute Copper Mini Pinecones.

Let me know if you’d like more detail on how I created the ‘tray’ for my cake, and I’ll see what I can do.

If you live in the UK, and need any Stampin’ Up! supplies to make this, or any other project, you can get everything you need in my Online Shop. For this project, the items I used are listed below and you can click on any product image to add them to your shopping basket:

Many thanks for stopping by. Please hop onto the lovely Allison in Canada who I’m sure will be grateful to see you!

If you any reason, you find the blog hop breaks at some point, please bear with us and try again in a short while. We do our absolute best to have the hop correct at ‘go live’ time, but sometimes mistakes happen. We aim to fix them ASAP, but we are all at different points in our day (it’s 2am for me so I’m asleep, for example) so it might take us a little while to sort it depending on where the problem is.

New Look Newsletter – Autumn Inspiration!

Edited to add: My mistake, you need to use the Sign Up Here button to get my newsletter. I had put Sign Me Up, which means you get an email when I publish a blog post. My sincere apologies if you’ve signed up to the wrong thing, and please do the link under ‘My Newsletter’.

Hi! I hope this week is going well for you? Autumn has well and truly hit in my little piece of England. We’ve had wind, rain, sun – a right mixed bag! I love autumn and all the colours in brings. I also love that now I can justify wearing my coat (I get cold easily), and snuggling on my sofa!

This week I have been working on my new look newsletter, and I must say, I’m rather pleased with it. I’ve totally overhauled what I used to call a ‘newletter’, which was actually little more than class reminders! Yesterday though, subscribers received their own little piece of Autumn into their inboxes – with inspirational photos, projects; even a recipe! I hope they enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed creating it – it certainly inspired me!

If you’d like to sign up to receive my newsletter – there is a ‘Sign Up Here‘ button in the right hand sidebar that will add you to my list. I’m already working behind the scenes on the November one, so sign up and make sure you don’t miss out!

Here’s one of the projects I shared in October’s newsletter – I think I’ll keep the other one exclusive to those receiving the newsletter – a little something just for them – and for you if you join up!

The little card is going out to my customers who made a recent purchase, while the gift bag was given to the lovely ladies who brought new friends to craft with us at the recent Laughs & PaperCrafts Class I held.

I hope you’re enjoying the changing seasons, wherever in the world you live!

Passionette’s Autumn/Winter Blog Hop…

Welcome!  I’m so glad you could stop by and check out our Passionette’s Blog Hop. When you’ve finished checking out my project, just follow the link at the bottom of this post to ‘hop’ onto the next blog until you seen all the projects we have for you.

I’ve had this project in mind for a few weeks now, but first I had to order some supplies and then I had to find time. When I joined the hop, it seemed to be the perfect time to have a go at it:

Stampin' Up! - Autumn Wall Hanging - Truly Grateful - Stamping with Val. X

  • Yay!  An Autumn Wall Hanging – all made from Stampin’ Up! supplies.
  • The base of the hanging is a piece of Canvas Creations – a sheet of canvas textured paper.
  • I made ‘sticks’ for the top and bottom using Early Espresso Co’ordinations cardstock.  I’ve rolled it up and then sanded them a little to give them some stick-like texture!

  • The canvas itself is stamped with images from the Truly Grateful stamp set, new in the Autumn/Winter catalogue.

  • I’ve used the Sketch Alphabet to stamp my message in Early Espresso ink.

  • The final word ‘Thankful’ is die cut using the new Expression Thinlits and then placed on a length of the new Burlap Ribbon.

  • The final decoration is a few die cut leaves using the Autumn Accents dies, which I then embossed using the Woodgrain TIEF.  A little ink distressing and a button finishes those off.
  • I threaded a length of Linen Thread through the top ‘stick’ and tied above so I had something to hang it from.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my Autumn hanging.  Why not try using some of your stamping and craft supplies to create a piece of home decor?

Now head on over to Julie’s Blog to check out her project.  I hope you enjoy the rest of the hop.

I’ll be back next week with more project, so come back soon.

Til next time,

Sweater Weather Sneak Peek…

Hi There!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  We had my in-laws visit us for a short while and it was good to catch up with them and share all our holiday news with them too.

August is a busy month for me for male birthdays!  I know – I can hear you all groaning from here!  Men’s cards can be trickier than ladies, but the key is to stick to a fairly neutral colour scheme and hold back on the embellishments – you know you don’t like to use them anyway, but just have them to stare at and stroke – don’t you?  Perhaps that’s just me!

Anyway, so the new autumn paper in the upcoming Holiday catalogue is perfect for this:

  • Lots of neutrals tones, but interesting patterns make the Sweater Weather Papers perfect for male cards

  • You want interest though, so the new Burlap Ribbon gives you some great texture without being ‘girlie’!

  • A simple birthday sentiment is sometimes all you need – check out the Label Love stamp set and matching Artisan Label punch

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s card.  Come back soon for more sneak peeks plus a really simple yet effective technique Birthday Card.

Autumn Again…

Just a quick one today, sharing another autumn card using the Perfectly Preserved set.  This one is a CASE of a sample in the Autumn/Winter mini catalogue:

As I’ve said already, this jar stamps beautifully!  And the coordinating papers in this range are fab too!  I’ve used the matching dies to cut out the jar and the little flower, while the Thank You image punches out with the Small Oval Punch.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I’m hoping to schedule some posts for later this week and next, while I’m living it up at Convention!  If you’d like to be attending Convention with me next year (should be in the UK too!), why not email or call me for an informal chat about joining my Stampin’ Up! team?  I’d love to hear from you. Hugs, Val. XX

Got That Autumn Feeling…

Well, autumn is well and truly here now!  It’s my favourite season, although when I have to walk the girls to school in drizzle, I wonder why!  I do love all the colours associated with it though.  I also love the new stamp sets Stampin’ Up! have brought us in the Autumn/Winter Seasonal.  The colours and images of the Perfectly Preserved and Friendship Preserves stamp sets and coordinating papers sum up everything autumnal:

I LOVE this jar – the image stamps so beautifully.  And dies to match – perfection!  I also love this cotton ribbon and the ribbon sliders – alright – everything!

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you manage to get some crafting in, maybe make something autumnal.  I’ll be back on Wednesday with another project.  Hugs, Val. XX
